Spirit of the Lord anoints us with power to be profitable servants. But what does He empower us to do? He anoints us to preach the Gospel; to the bind up the brokenhearted; to set free those held captive to sin; and to open the prison doors that kept them from the knowledge of God.
He was anointed with the Holy Spirit, which is God's strength, ability, and power. Then He went bout doing good and cured all that were harassed and oppressed by the devil. We must follow His example and walk in that same humility, because He first followed the Spirit into the wilderness to face satan's in trials and temptations. He went without complaining and grumbling. Did you notice that he went into the wilderness full of the Holy Spirit? Did you notice that He also came out of the wilderness filled with the Holy Spirit and also with Power? Only then was He prepared to perform the works of His Father.
Many Christians think that when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, we are fully prepared to do the works of God. Not so! There must be a wilderness experience of trials and tests to reveal whether your heart is after God. Failures occur when we refuse to surrender to the Holy Spirit. We must trust him to be with us in our trials, and he will be there as long as we avoid grumbling and complaining. Then we enter into the victory of Jesus Christ and we are prepared to be a profitable servant.
Can you make that commitment to endure the trials in the wilderness? Obedience and willingness allows you to eat of the good of the land. You'll enjoy the fruits of your labor just as the profitable servants did because joy comes with obedience.
God wants people who are willing to commit their lives to Him. In these last days, He will bless that faithful remnant that is totally sold out to the Holy Spirit. He will bless them with the fullness of joy because they will be in His presence, found at His right hand.
His faithful remnant will be as the profitable servants. There will be no foreign gods among them. They will not have a stubborn self will and they will do whatever God requires. They will have no divisions among them. Nor will they boast about the churches or ministries that God appointed for them. They will surely know the glory of the Lord, and it will be seen in them and upon them.
Those who commit their lives to Christ will be few in the last days. For only a few enter into the narrow gate. God always uses a faithful remnant that is as fearless as a lion. They will do exploits for Him and push through all opposition and not give up, without caring for their lives, as they glorify God. They will remain hidden in His secret presence from the plots of their foes. All these blessings will be theirs because they fear the Lord.
God reveals Himself to the committed ones who serve him. Through the Holy Spirit, He reveals Himself in His written Word. He tells you the knowledge of Himself and He will point to nothing else but the Truth in the Word of God. There are many false teachers who claim to have new revelations from beyond the boundaries of Scriptures and from them we should flee. God sheds his light upon His Word, making it clear, and He will not use counterfeit sources. Nor will you find His revelation by running here and there, to and fro, to hear what He says. You'll learn to recognize His voice through His Word, because "When He has brought out His own, He goes ahead of them, and His sheep follow Him because they know his voice" (John 10:4).
When we hear His voice and do his work we are surely blessed. We enter the same joy as our Lord experiences in heavenly realms. "My sheep listen to My voice; I know them and they follow Me" (John 10:27). When we know His voice and follow him, He continues to pour out blessings in abundance. "I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know His master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from My Father I have made know to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last" (John 15:16).
